TDC Welcomes Next Move NY Team to Plattsburgh

TDC NNY's President and CEO Dani King and Director of Business Development Renee McFarlin had the privilege of bringing representatives from Next Move NY to visit employers Medisca and Micro Bird and tour the greater Plattsburgh area.

Ben Cruz and Sarah Wilder from Next Move NY and Erin Hynes from NYS Empire State Development joined TDC to first tour Micro Bird, a Canadian-based bus manufacturer who recently established their Plattsburgh facility. The group learned about Micro Bird's local processes and broad range of job opportunities, which may be suited for individuals of all levels of experience and education and in all aspects of operation, from welding to painting and finishing work to administrative support and more.

The team then visited Medisca, a global pharmaceutical manufacturer who established their first US facility in Plattsburgh in 1992 and became a TDC tenant in 1995, marking 30 years of operations spanning several TDC buildings as their presence has grown. Medisca celebrated the grand opening of their new facility on Tom Miller Road in 2024, with local employment growing by over 50% since moving into TDC's newest building.

Next Move NY is a regional strategic initiative to retain soldiers and their families who are transitioning out of military life on Fort Drum and considering where they would next like to reside, while helping tofill jobs gaps for employers across the region. By visiting companies and touring the region, the Next Move NY team is able to share their firsthand accounts of job opportunities and the quality of life across New York's North Country Region during these transition meetings with soldiers.

Next Move NY is an initiative that was awarded funding by New York State through the Regional Economic Development Council's 2022 Regional Challenge. The NCREDC Work Group tasked with developing this proposal was lead by David Champagne, former President and CEO of TDC NNY.

TDC Mission Statement: To foster an environment that creates and retains quality jobs and investments in the community.
