Just last year, Danielle (Dani) King was promoted to Director of Business and Workforce Development. Shortly after her promotion, Dani received her economic developer certification, CEcD. Now, we announce that Dani has been promoted to Vice President of the organization.

As David said in the last President's Corner - "There are many strong businesses in the region, from locally owned, to large, international manufacturers, like Medisca. The Plattsburgh region is resilient!" According to the New York State Department of Labor's official report for the years 2022-2023, Clinton County witnessed an impressive overall job growth rate of 4.5%. This new blog features local and national economic and labor data to earnings, inflation and recent labor market trends.

As we enter into summer there is much to be hopeful about. Our newest building is nearing completion allowing one of our tenants, Medisca, to consolidate their business in a brand-new state of the art facility.

1,600 high school students from Clinton, Essex, Franklin counties participated in the first annual ADK Career Connect led by OneWorkSource and CV-TEC. TDC was proud partners for the event as it provided a peek into careers or further education opportunities after high school. See the highlights!

More than 100 tenth-grade students from five area schools embarked on an eye-opening field trip on Tuesday April 18, where they toured local manufacturers and explored the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing (IAM) and Clinton Community College campus.

It is hard to believe 2022 is coming to an end. It has been another great year at TDC with many things to be thankful for. As I look back on the year, there are many accomplishments that we can be proud of. All of our accomplishments are the result of a total team effort.

It was a wonderful year at TDC. We welcomed two new staff members, Brittany and Jay; we started building a 60,000 SF new building, our Workforce Roundtable event made a strong comeback, and we began a new film series called TDC Groundbreakers!

North Country Manufacturing Day had a record breaking turn out, even with the first major snowstorm of the year. This was the 10th annual North Country MFG Day held at Clinton Community College.

Tony Searing began running marathons 40 years ago. He is not only a marathon/ultra-marathon runner, he is also a triathlete. Tony has competed in 11 consecutive Ironman races in Lake Placid since 2006 and he is already registered for the 2023 race! Now, Tony is preparing for the New York City Marathon.

This fall, TDC welcomed six new community members to our Board of Directors. We will be introducing them in two installments; you first learned about George, Deb and Christina, now get to know Linda, Courtney and John.

The West Side Ballroom was full of energy on September 13 as many members from our parks and region came together to discuss workforce development and ways to support the workforce pipeline. All presenters described programs and opportunities that set up the younger generations for success as they decide which pathway is right for them.

This fall, TDC welcomed six new community members to our Board of Directors. We will be introducing them in two installments; get to know George, Deb and Christina and read about their positive impacts to the community and what they will bring to TDC.

From December 2014 to June 2022 Roger Livernois has been an indispensable part of the TDC team as the Facilities and Project Manager. Roger is retiring at the end of the month and we wish him all the best in his new chapter.

TDC Building #25, situated in Banker Road Industrial Park, offers 60,000 sq. ft. of industrial space, 26 ft. high ceilings and two private suites of 30,000 sq. ft. each. The building should be completed in April 2023.

In January, TDC's Business Development Manager, Danielle King was promoted to Director of Business and Workforce Development. Just four months later, Dani passes her rigorous testing with flying colors and has received economic developer certification!

Last month, TDC staff, board, and community partners past and present gathered to celebrate our 60 years of business. We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped to celebrate, and even more gratitude to the business community at large who are an integral part of the organization’s longevity.

When discussing the history of TDC, you can’t celebrate all our successes without giving thanks to our past staff, board members, and volunteers. Two names that always rise to the surface when discussing our history are, Clyde Lewis & Gus Lapham. Without the persistence and leadership demonstrated on behalf of TDC, we would be a much different organization today.

Our company is rooted in achieving economic growth through innovation and collaboration across our community. Over the course of six decades, TDC has invested in hundreds of thousands of square feet of industrial space for businesses to grow and expand.

If you haven’t heard, 2021 marks 60 years of business for TDC. We’ve come a long way since our start we used to have two to three full time employees, we now have seven! We used to share an office space, now we have our own office with a beautiful view. In honor of our 60th Anniversary we’re exploring what life was like in 1961 and taking a look at how our local landscape has changed since then.

Alyssa joined the TDC team in the fall of 2019. Since then she's helped the organization transition to a new website, logo, and office space. Aside from big changes at work, she also recently changed her last name getting married in June of 2021. Learn more about our spirited friend and colleague.

This summer we are excited to welcome Olivia Bousquet into our office as an intern. Over the course of nine weeks, Olivia will work along TDC staff to promote our business and the region.

With a full year of a pandemic behind us, it is safe to say that a lot has changed. Here at TDC, we have been able to quickly adapt to the evolving environment of the pandemic, embracing video conferencing and remote work. Virtual meetings have made it easier than ever to connect with prospective tenants to our park.

In the spring of 2020, TDC broke ground on Industrial Boulevard for a new 60,000-square-foot industrial spec building. This new building is at the forefront of new growth and development of the industrial parks in our region.

As part of our growing commitment to investing in our local workforce, we are thrilled to announce a new grant program to support manufacturing employee’s skills development and STEM career exploration.

TDC has recently updated its name from The Development Corporation to simply TDC. This transition is the culmination of a year-long rebranding project between TDC staff, board, and a local marketing and advertising agency.

Our office is full of hope and optimism as we embark on a new chapter of the organization, with a name change and innovation of our brand, and as we reflect and celebrate 60 years of business supporting investments in Northern New York.
