We were thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of the first international assembly facility for Motion Composites, a Quebec-based pioneer in ultralight, high-performance manual wheelchairs. Their new location in TDC’s Air Industrial Park now has fifteen skilled employees, and the company anticipates additional hiring as their Plattsburgh operation continues to grow.
Motion Composites's award-winning wheelchairs have been produced exclusively in their flagship facility in Quebec, but on May 27, 2025, the team in Plattsburgh completed the assembly of their first international wheelchair.
“This isn’t just a new building, it’s a new chapter,” said Eric Simoneau, CEO of Motion Composites. “Opening this facility reinforces our commitment to the U.S. market, our customers, and to empower people through mobility. We build more than products, we build solutions that transform lives, driven by a culture of innovation, passion, and purpose. We’re glad to bring that spirit to the North Country and proud to contribute to the local economy as we grow alongside this community.”
The decision by Motion Composites to establish their first U.S. facility in Plattsburgh adds to the area’s growing hub of medical manufacturers including Quebec-based companies Monaghan Medical and Medisca, a long-standing TDC tenant.
“This new facility marks a key operational milestone,” said David Sicotte, VP of Operations at Motion Composites. “It enhances our ability to serve the U.S. market while reflecting our deep commitment to operational excellence and to investing in local talent.”
“We’re proud to support Motion Composites as they officially open their U.S. facility here in Plattsburgh,” said Danielle King, President and CEO of TDC. “Their investment brings high-quality, meaningful jobs to local residents, strengthens our manufacturing landscape, and reflects the unique advantages of doing business in the North Country, the kind of collaborative growth we work hard to enable at TDC.”
